Martin Tilbury - Chair of Trustees Photo Of Chair

Since 1997 Martin has been involved in youth and community work in the UK as a volunteer, youth worker and manager in the voluntary, statutory and charity sectors. Over the past 15 years he has supported and managed youth and community initiatives in Uganda through a number of organisations. He has worked with a number of small companies and charities to develop their organisational potential. Martin has a keen passion for entrepreneurial leadership and established the Bumba Foundation with the trustees to support innovation and creativity through educational projects.

Wendy Solesbury MBE - Trustee Photo Of Nancy

Wendy joined the Bumba Foundation board of Trustees in 2015 after supporting the development work of a number of projects in Uganda over the last 10 years. Wendy has worked in the Children and Young People sector in the UK for the past 30 years. After initially working and managing after school projects / Nursery schools, Wendy focussed on managing youth and community projects at a regional and national level within the third sector. In 2013 after many years working in the voluntary sector, Wendy was awarded an MBE for services to the British Red Cross and Olympic and Paralympic Games. Wendy believes in enhancing young people's potential and is very excited to be able to use her skills to enhance the work of the Bumba Foundation.

Jane Hanson - Trustee Photo Of Jane

Jane has worked for many years in HR and training and development through the private and third sector. She is skilled in the development and delivery of management training and supports organisations in their transformational agendas. Jane has worked on a number of community development projects in Uganda and is very passionate about sustainable development whilst supporting a creative approach in education.

Sam Sin - Trustee Photo Of Sam

Sam has been working in the voluntary sector since 2004 and specialises refugee resettlement in the UK. She took a gap year in 2008 volunteering with the Maasai community in Tanzania and travelled around East Africa. During this time she spent a month in Uganda, visiting and supporting local community projects. Sam strongly believes in the power of volunteering to build sustainable community led projects.

Anthony Hegarty - Trustee Photo Of Anthony

Anthony works full time for a communications company and runs a small development business in his spare time. He is very keen on supporting community development and likes to get hands on with construction projects. Anthony was inspired in 2011 when he supported the construction of the Bumba Foundation Academy and uses his energy and drive to support the work of the Foundation.

Deb Bacon - Trustee Photo Of Deb

Deb joined the trustees in December 2014 after supporting the Bumba Foundation for a number of years which included running a few half marathons. Deb has enjoyed a varied career including a number of positions in formal and informal education and is currently the strategic manager of the Burton co-operative learning trust but is also the Chair of the Schools Co-operative Society. Deb finds the challenge of partnership working to be the perfect balance of challenge and job satisfaction, and is very passionate about improving quality education for children and young people in the UK and in Africa.
